Happy Friday! Today we are catching up with 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Lauren Haffner. Mrs. Haffner has had a busy summer reading books, riding bikes, and visiting the zoo with her family. She even got to spend a week at IU learning how to bring computer science into the classroom! #readytofly

Today we are checking in with Mam, our health assistant. Mrs. Mitchell had a great time this summer on her 1st cruise to the Bahamas with her family. Both she and her husband celebrated their 60th birthdays and wedding anniversary. What a great summer vacation! #readytofly

Please welcome Miss Peyton Simpkins: Hello! I’m Peyton Simpkins, the new Executive Secretary at Fayette Central! I have a great deal of experience, both with kids and the clerical field. My passion lies within helping people. At a young age I learned that I love volunteer work, especially with kids. I currently live in Rushville; and serve on the Executive Board at a local nonprofit, M.o.R.E. for Kids, that focuses on mentorship and building character. In addition to working at Fayette Central I am also a realtor in Rushville and surrounding counties. In my free time you can usually find me with my family, spending time with my dog Alister, or working on crafting and DIY projects.  I am extremely honored to work at Fayette Central, following in my family’s footsteps. Most of my family has attended Fayette Central and my grandparents worked there for over 20 years. I grew up spending summers wandering the halls, playing basketball in the gym, and pretending I was a teacher. It is a full circle moment that I am now the one working at the school. I am beyond excited to begin the school year and meet all the students, staff, and parents.  #readytofly

Today we are catching up with Mrs. Sarah Strong, special ed teacher for grades 4-6. This summer, I have been enjoying the extra quality time with my family! We kicked things off by getting a new puppy (Murphy) who keeps us on our toes! We also took a vacation to Myrtle Beach. Most days, we can be found in our pool, soaking up the sun! This has been a fantastic summer! I am looking forward to hearing about everyone's summer when we return in August! #readytofly

Please help us welcome our new 5th grade teacher, Mr. Michael Current. #readytofly My name is Michael Current and I have been in the educational field for 16 years. In those 16 years, I have taught Kindergarten, 4th grade, 5th grade and some middle school. Some of my favorite coursework to teach is Social Studies and Indiana History. I have two sons, David is 18 and Cohen is 15, with my wife Lori of 20 years. We have two dogs; Tyson and Winnie, and we reside in Richmond, Indiana. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, watching movies, and shooting sports. I love being a teacher, and all of the excitement and joy it brings myself and my students. I am excited to begin my first year teaching at Fayette Central Elementary School.

Our next check in is with Mrs. Kellie O'Rourke, primary special ed teacher. Have you seen Mrs. O'Rourke at Kroger this summer? She worked really hard to buy a brand new truck. She is very excited for her new purchase! I wonder if she will name it? #readytofly

It’s time to check in with our FCE family to see what they’ve been up to this summer. Miss Corum celebrated her 29th birthday at Kings Island and sold her newest book at Popcon. Did you know she was also an author? How cool is that! She currently has 3 books published and available to purchase on Amazon. Please help us welcome Mrs. Lauren Edwards, our new 2nd grade teacher at FCE. Mrs. Edwards graduated from Hanover College in 2020. Shortly after, she moved to Connersville and got married. They welcomed their first baby, Joseph, this past January. Besides being a mom, she loves to coach/play volleyball, show dogs and being out on her boat! Welcome Mrs. Edwards! #readytofly
